The Great Book of John thanks Paste for including us in this list of fantastic Alabama bands, including Duquette Johnston, also out on Communicating Vessels.

Thanks from The Great Book of John

“We have had a great time the past few weekends playing some of our favorite events!

To our friends/family in Mobile and around the southeast–it was a pleasure to play and party with you guys at SouthSounds Music Festival this year. Always a great time in Mobile. So excited for all the bands we were with–really wonderful things happening in the south–cool to be surrounded by such talented people.

Also had a great time playing Paint The Town Red here in Birmingham. We are always happy to jump on for such a great cause and our branch of The American Red Cross works really hard. The digital arts, street performers, vendors, staff/volunteers, and sound folks all helped to make it a solid event.

We hope to see you out and about the city soon! Thanks for all of your support!

The Great Book of John: Dark Star Video on BLURT

In the process of putting the finishing touches on their new album set for release in 2013 on the Communicating Vessels label is The Great Book of John, Alabama natives who’ve been compared to the likes of Jeff Buckley and Stevie Ray Vaughan. They previously caught the attention of the public with a striking cover of “Never Tear Us Apart” in 2011, following that up earlier this year with “Simple Things,” a powerful video that was rich in metaphors and developed an in depth storyline about the evils of temptation and greed.

Now they’ve unveiled the video for the upcoming record’s first single, “Dark Star” (released Nov. 27), cut live in a studio in NYC while the band was on tour. The track was recorded and produced by PLX / WIZ, while the video directed by Seth Newell.

We will be releasing a new single Novemeber 27th! This will a small taste of what is to come out in 2013 and we are very excited! You can have a listen here…
